It&#8217;s quite obvious, even from the first look, that the new module is very different from its predecessors. Main difference is a new form factor, leaving DDR2 SODIMM in the past.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The same 64-bit quad-core <strong>BCM2711<\/strong> application processor as in Raspberry Pi 4B, the Compute Module 4 brings higher performance: <strong>faster CPU core<\/strong>s, better multimedia, more interfacing capabilities, and, for the first time, a choice of RAM densities and a wireless Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Compute Module 4 comes in 32 variants. Since <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/iot-industrial-devices.com\/raspberry-pi-4-as-an-alternative-for-gateway-platform\/\">Raspberry Pi 4<\/a><\/strong> was a great success in 2019, we might see it&#8217;s equivalent in industrial series of Raspberry Pi &#8211; <strong>Compute Module 4<\/strong>. A possible <strong>release date of Raspberry Pi&#8217;s Compute Module 4 is mid-202<\/strong>0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/iot-industrial-devices.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/rpi-compute-module-4-connector-1030x687.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6458\"\/><figcaption>Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 high-density connector<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Raspberry Pi is gaining recognition in Industry<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Almost a year ago, in the beginning of 2019, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.raspberrypi.org\/about\/\">Raspberry Pi Foundation<\/a><\/strong> presented <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/modberry.techbase.eu\/compute-module-3\/new-modberry-options-with-raspberry-pi-compute-module-3\/\">Raspberry Pi Compute Module 3+<\/a><\/strong>, a successor to previous <strong>CM3<\/strong> version of development board, aimed at businesses and industrial users. The Compute Module uses a standard DDR2 SODIMM (small outline dual in-line memory module) form factor. GPIO and other I\/O functions are routed through the 200 pins on the board. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Only a few months later, in June 2019, came big premiere of <strong>Raspberry Pi 4 Model B<\/strong>, the long-awaited successor of customer <strong>RPi3+<\/strong>. With new processor, larger RAM options and many input\/output changes, became new standard in small, embedded PC world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/iot-industrial-devices.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/raspberry-pi-compute-module-3plus-1030x574.png\" alt=\"Raspberry Pi Compute Module 3+\" class=\"wp-image-5956\" width=\"515\" height=\"287\"\/><figcaption>Raspberry Pi Compute Module 3+<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>It seems a matter of time before the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/modberry.techbase.eu\/compute-module-3\/new-modberry-options-with-raspberry-pi-compute-module-3\/\">Raspberry Pi Compute Module 3+<\/a><\/strong> will get its own successor, probably called <strong>Compute Module 4<\/strong>, a new milestone of professional embedded IoT module.
